Stand up to Cancer Charity American Tournament

On Bank Holiday Monday (26th August), we will be running an American tournament with the intention to donate the proceeds to stand up to cancer.

1 in 3 of us can expect sadly to have cancer during our lifetime and we would like to show our support to the excellent research being done in this field. The theme will be blue and pink to represent men’s and ladies’ cancers so please dress accordingly.

The event will start at 2pm at Cheam LTC.  All members welcome, including juniors!

An American tournament is a round robin doubles competition in which participants are initially paired at random. Timed rounds are played on a rotational basis and there are small prizes for the players who win the most games overall as well as the runners up. Anyone can play in an American tournament irrespective of the playing standard.

Entry is £5, but if you would like to give a further donation please feel free. All proceeds will go to charity.

Please email secretary@cheamtennisclub.co.uk to sign up for this event.

We would love to see you there.

Superteams is back

Superteams is back at Cheam LTC on Monday 6th May!

For those of you who don’t know, Superteams is a friendly (but very competitive) tournament in which teams battle it out to be crowned Superteams champions.

Please see the photos from the last Superteams we ran back in 2017, when Jack Harvey’s Red Team were triumphant:

We welcome all members to take part in this event. It is a very enjoyable afternoon and a great chance to socialise with members. Warm up from 1 pm for a 1.30 pm start!

This is a doubles event with 4 players in each team. Teams will go up against each in a round robin style format. We will make sure that the teams are all balanced. Each team will be allocated a team name & colour, so we encourage you to wear some clothing of that particular colour if you can.

We are also looking to run a BBQ during the afternoon. Spectators welcome too.

The event is being run as a fundraiser as we are looking to purchase a good quality gazebo which we can use at various events in the summer, including Finals Day. Please come down and support your club!

Entry is £5 per player.

To enter, please email secretary@cheamtennisclub.co.uk. We will then email you back to confirm your entry. After that, please pay your £5 entry fee through BACS to the Cheam LTC bank account.

We will be accepting a maximum of 32 entries – so it will be first come first serve

Please only enter if you can definitely make the date. We look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome BBQ

To kick off the 2019/20 season, we will be running a welcome BBQ on Saturday 6th April during club time (2pm start). ALL MEMBERS are invited to attend this event to play some mix-in doubles and enjoy a delicious BBQ. It will also be a great opportunity to welcome new members who have joined Cheam LTC in the last few months.

On the same day, we will also be running the Finals of the Higgins & Handicap events. These matches will take place before club time from 12pm. We very much welcome you to come down early and give your support to the finalists.

There is a sign-up sheet in the hut so we know how many members want food. We look forward to seeing you there.
